CH02 - Amethyst Quartz. Amatitlán, Eduardo Neri Municipality, Guerrero, Mexico.
Some of the best Amethysts in the world came from the far region of Amatlitán, Guerrero in Mexico. The crystals from Guerrero are larger around the lower and middle part, tapering towards the ends, a good way to generally distinguish them from the locality of Veracruz, also in Mexico. This a good sample from this mineral deposit. It is composed of a main large transparent crystal accompanied by other Amethyst smaller crystals. The colour is a deep reddish purple. The crystals show an excellent clarity with phantoms of colour along the prisms and with reflecting fluid inclusions. The cause of that colour is those Fe3+ atoms substituting for some silicon atoms. This one is an excellent Guerrero Amethyst suitable for a demanding mineral collector. No damage.

CH28- Rhodochrosite with Quartz. Detroit City Mine, Mount Bross, Alma Mining District, Park County, Colorado, USA.
The Detroit City Portal mining operations began in 2017. After 7 years of mining operations, the Detroit City Portal of the Sweet Home Mine was permanently closed in September 2024. This mine was approximately 300 feet, or 90 meters, above the old Sweet Home Mine workings that it was closed in 2004. The portal was removed and the entrance was cemented and reclaimed. The two mines did not connect but both of them have produced some of the highest-quality Rhodochrosite specimens in the world. This specimen is a very good example of the good quality of the specimens found there, it is formed by a very well formed rhombohedral crystal of Rhodochrosite with sharp faces and edges, with nice red color and high brilliance. Settled on a bed of small crystals of Quartz. A classic in perfect condition, no damage.
